Congratulations to our newest ADPII cast!

The Academy Theatre wishes to congratulate our newest adult cast members who will be starting their journey on a new production;

Apryl B – Andy B – Logan B – Barbara B – Gene C – Nicole F – Michael G – Tameka K – Angelica S and Nitin S.

The Adult Drama Program is developed in a way that any adult over the age of 18 can participate and experience the world of acting on stage and seeing a production come to life. As always, joining these programs does not require experience as an actor and auditions are never held.

If you have considered marking this experience off, or remove from your bucket list, or simply want to push that creative side of your brain, this program is for you! Please enroll the next time we have our open enrollment cast call.

Summer Drama Program half way there!

As we come to the halfway mark in our 8-week program, the students of the Summer Drama Program are heading towards the harder part of the production timeline. Students have already started to memorize their lines, we just finished table reading the script, and now we are starting to get on stage blocking each scene. The students are learning when to come in, where to stand, where to sit, where to move, what to do, how to say lines creatively, what to do with arm, head and leg movements, using props and where and when to exit to exit.

Although this program is fast paced, only really 16 rehearsals, the students get so much of the program and most importantly they had something to do over the summer and meet some possible new friends. The students are a fun group and are having a great time with each other.

Their production, “The Ballad of Gopher Gap” is scheduled to be performed August 3rd., at 7pm. Ticket are available through our website at: academytheatre.net

I want to take this opportunity to thank MaryAnn Keyser, SDP Coordinator who helps with props, wardrobe and supervision and as backstage manager during the performance.

TAT to host CINESYLUM!

The Academy Theatre welcomes CINESYLUM to our humble, little cozy theater. CINESYLUM is Phoenix based Horror Movie Fan group that hosts monthly movie screenings at the Academy Theatre. In an era changed by the advent of streaming and excellent home theater setups, the Cinesylum team (“Scarin’” Aaron Hudson, “Deadly” Danni Winn and “Goth Vanna White” Samantha Hurdich) have remained steadfast in their belief in the theatrical experience and communal aspect of watching movies at a theater. Having hosted over 65 screening events throughout a year since 2019, they’ve worked hard to build a welcoming community to horror and genre fans, or those simply looking to expand their movie palette. Beyond the films they’ve focused on using the platform to help raise money for various causes and entities they believe in through benefit screenings, some featuring celebrity guests, where ticket and raffle proceeds go to good causes. And we here at the Academy Theatre are very grateful for their support.

Come out and check for yourself at our next screening on July 20th, 2024 with two showings. for more information, visit our website at: http://academytheatre.net

TAT to start new Mission Ambassador Panel

Our Mission Ambassador Panel is a group of people who have been privately and hand-selected to be part of this special panel. Our Mission Ambassadors are special individuals who passionately believe in our cause, help create awareness of the Academy Theatre, help promote our values, missions, goals, and philosophies, develop private fundraisers, and function as representatives of our organization outside of our physical demographics.

Each Mission Ambassador is encouraged to help with fundraising efforts to spread awareness of the Academy Theatre and its missions. These fundraisers are uniquely designed and held privately by each Ambassador in their physical area as they see fit. As a representative of the Academy Theatre, Mission Ambassadors will act authoritatively in any fundraiser that is developed, planned, and organized as representatives of the Academy Theatre. Fundraisers may come in many forms. For example, tea parties, luncheons, cookouts, golf tournaments, and even peer-to-peer fundraisers with each Mission Ambassador receiving a custom personalized link for donors to contribute.

As with any fundraiser held, we will supply you with any marketing materials you may need, letterheads, brochures, business cards, etc., and the ability to connect virtually with the director during your fundraising event.
