As we come to the halfway mark in our 8-week program, the students of the Summer Drama Program are heading towards the harder part of the production timeline. Students have already started to memorize their lines, we just finished table reading the script, and now we are starting to get on stage blocking each scene. The students are learning when to come in, where to stand, where to sit, where to move, what to do, how to say lines creatively, what to do with arm, head and leg movements, using props and where and when to exit to exit.
Although this program is fast paced, only really 16 rehearsals, the students get so much of the program and most importantly they had something to do over the summer and meet some possible new friends. The students are a fun group and are having a great time with each other.
Their production, “The Ballad of Gopher Gap” is scheduled to be performed August 3rd., at 7pm. Ticket are available through our website at: academytheatre.net

I want to take this opportunity to thank MaryAnn Keyser, SDP Coordinator who helps with props, wardrobe and supervision and as backstage manager during the performance.
